The Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) has already come up with splendid list of events and celebrations for making the day remarkable and the entire UAE residents are shining with the joy to celebrate the day to its fullest.
UAE celebrates its National Day to mark the UAE’s Union Day between the seven emirates and the immense progress that the country has made in the past years. It was on December 02, 1971 all the emirates except Ras Al Khaimah united as a one nation under the presidentship of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan; the first President of UAE. Later after 2 months; Ras Al Khaimah also joined to become the seventh Emirate in the union. Ever since that; the nation is celebrating its National Day on 02nd December to pay tribute to the ‘Spirit of the Unity’.
The nation will be celebrating its golden Jubilee with heritage rich events, parades, music shows, fireworks and spectacular performances. The entire nation will be lighted up and shining in the joy of its National Day Celebrations. All the prominent buildings in UAE have been lit-up in the national flag colors. All the employees of the public and private sector have given a three days holiday to celebrate the Nation’s joy. A special Skydive show and Formation jump will be hosted by the Abu Dhabi Sports Aviation club to celebrate the day.
An official theme song titled Hathi Al Emarat (This is the UAE) was also released to celebrate the National Day. The song features the progress achieved by the nation in the last 50 years. Different from the past years; on this golden jubilee; the UAE residents will also get a chance to witness a grand show staged in Hatta Dam with the view of Hajar mountains, lakes and valleys followed by a spectacular drone driven fireworks. The floating theatrical experience will take the viewers on journey through the land’s history in the lead-up to the inception of the union and across the 50 years that followed.
Shaikha Al Ketbi and Es Delvin the artistic directors of the show said:
“The show highlights the deep connections and harmony between humans, nature and technology.”
“We have made a floating lake. The whole show floats. The audience floats.”
On this 50th year of UAE National Day, let us remember the valuable word of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan; the Founder and the first president of the nation:
“The real wealth of the country is made of men, of children, and of future generations. It is this which constitutes the real treasure.”
Remembering the hard work and sacrifices of the people of this nation, let’s celebrate patriotism and promise to contribute more towards the betterment of the United Arab Emirates. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to live freely in this amazing country.
