You have recently got an offer to start working at your first job after you have graduated. While you were getting prepared mentally to start your new job or getting adjusted to your new working routine, the outbreak of the pandemic has forced many people to work remotely.  Sure you have got to have many questions like how can you stay productive and stay creative while working remotely. How do you live up to the expectations you have set for yourself in your new job career. 

For those graduates who are unsure how they are going to function given the current situations that have affected people worldwide, working from home can be a challenging responsibility. We have listed some ideas and tips that you can use to your advantage to stand out as a star employer even while remotely working.

Coordinate with your supervisors 

As a graduate starting your new job in a remote work setting, you may not get the guidance and tips you would receive in an office setting from your bosses. Nevertheless, You can still make working from home a  success for you by knowing how and when to connect with your manager to get the right feedback and communication towards your work. By actively communicating with your managers and supervisors to shows that you are serious and proactive with your working even when doing it in a remote setting. 

Also when in doubt, don’t hesitate to coordinate with your boss to get timely advice so that you can contuse to produce quality work. Take the feedback to receive from your superiors in your stride and learn how you can improve your performance from them. If you don’t receive feedback it is a good idea to ask for a performance evaluation so that you can understand if you are in the right track.

Be organised

Think about the environment to need to work in to carry out your tasks. Organise your day by planning in advance what tasks you ned to tackle and what you want to achieve. Prioritise your tasks and making a to-do list, the will help you to keep a track of your work during the day. Make sure that you have your notebook, pen and Laptop set up and that you have a good internet connection. 

You can even play some music in the background or vest in noise cancelling headphones if the area which you work is is noisy. One of the advantages of remote working is that you can figure the time during the day you are ore productive and capitalise by doing your most hardest tasks then. You may like you start tackling your work fresh in the morning or work on it in the evening after you completed other duties. Know when to step away from your work to take breaks to refresh your perspective and give time to yourself.  

Invest in the right Technology 

Having the right technology while remote working is key to your success . If you don’t have a laptop to do your work you can request your supervisor if the company can lend you one.  Have a good and secure internet connection and ask you and connect to your company’s network if needed. 

Make sure that you have appropriate video calling tools if needed, such as a smartphone, webcam or laptop with a front camera.  Some people work better with wireless keyboard and mouses or even a second screen. Identify what you require and do the needful to make sure you arrange it in time. 

Connect with your colleagues 

You don’t have to work in isolation in your home while remote working. As a graduate, you will require assistance and advice with tasks that are new to you. Make sure to connect with your peers and especially other graduates like you at your company, so that you can collaborate remotely and discuss new projects together. Ask your superiors how you can effectively connect and network with more people in your company. 

Schedule a time during the day when you would like to chat with your colleagues, this will help you stay informed and be involved in the current functions of the business.
