Dubai’s marvelous Infinity Bridge is now open!
Another marvelous landmark for Dubai. Dubai’s 'Infinity Bridge' has finally been opened to traffic for the first time on January 16. The bridge has an arch shaped like the infinity symbol - which symbolises Dubai’s unlimited ambitions.
New bridge is a part of the infrastructure development aimed at the advancing sustainable growth and realising the vision of transforming Dubai into the world’s best city to live and work. Dubai government always places highest priority on projects that support sustainable development, meet the changing requirements of the community and provide it the highest quality of services.
The bridge consists of six lanes in each direction and improves the link between Deira and Bur Dubai. It features a combined 3-metre track for pedestrians and cyclists too.
According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website, the bridge goes across the creek. It is 300 metres long and 22 metres wide and can accommodate 24,000 vehicles in both directions. The commutators can drive by the new bridge in only one- two minutes.
“It rises 15 metres above the creek and allows complete freedom of movement to large boats and yachts around the clock,” the RTA said.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, had visited the bridge last week and announced the official launch.
