Reporting to: Principal

Salary: 10000 -15000 SAR with additional Standard benefits as per the policies.

Location: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia


Purpose:

The Academic Coordinator reports to the Assistant Principal and is responsible
for the overall teachers’ performance and recommendations for development
throughout the school year.
He will assume educational guidance and
supervision for the different subject areas to ensure that students are taught
and supervised in a safe, advanced learning environment and provided up to
date instruction that meets and exceeds the School Core Curriculum Content
Standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school
Academic Leadership.
 The coordinator will conduct classroom observations (formal and informal) of the
teachers and will offer support and guidance to the lead teachers to enhance
and support teachers’ academic performance especially in International
Baccalaureate (IB) program.
He will identify the developmental needs of each
department and implement substantial coaching, training and mentoring
strategies to improve teaching techniques, knowledge and skills throughout the
year.


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

o To develop, review and implement curricula, resources, schemes of work,
marking policies, assessment and teaching and learning strategies in the
department and in collaboration with other academic coordinators and
school management.

o To work closely with lead teachers to evaluate and supervise teachers’
effectiveness and provide guidelines for improvement and development in
consistency with the schools’ philosophy, mission, values and goals,
including instructional programs in the Core Curriculum Content
Standards;

o To observe teachers during their lessons and conduct goal-setting, preobservation, and reflective post-observation discussion and deliberation;


JOB DESCRIPTION:
 o To ensure the delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, high quality
curriculum program that reflects the school values and vision;

o To implement school policies and procedures;

o To oversee day-to-day management, control and operation of course
provision within the department, including effective deployment of staff
and physical resources and act as a positive role model; To monitor the
implementation of examination specifications, subjects across the different
levels, and other teaching materials;

o To regularly monitor the work of department members, ensuring that their
syllabus follows the correct curriculum and that they are adhering to
policies, including marking, schemes of work, and teaching methodology.
o To hold regular department meetings in order to set standards, monitor
progress against targets, and provide relevant information to the
department members in a timely manner.

o To communicate management decisions and organize needed plans and
close follow up in that regard
o To monitor, plan, and oversee department activities and extra-curricular
activities inside and outside the school.

o To work on establishing the activities program after school and preparing
a duty schedule for teachers off and on school campus to execute and
monitor the program.

o To participate in the interview process for teaching posts when required
and ensure effective induction of new staff in line with school procedures.
 o To monitor pupil attendance together with pupils' progress and
performance, with the class teacher, in relation to targets set for each
individual; ensuring that follow-up procedures are adhered to and that
appropriate action is taken where necessary;

o To maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary
systems of the school and apply appropriate disciplinary measures where
necessary;

o To ensure a behavior management system is implemented in the
department so that effective learning can take place;

o To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students
within the department;

o To communicate necessary and appropriate information regularly to
students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student
needs;

o To make appropriate arrangements for classes when staff are absent,
ensuring appropriate cover within the department, liaising with the cover
supervisor/relevant staff to secure appropriate cover;

o To ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information
concerning the department on the management information system;
 o To promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective working
relations;

o To keep up to date with and respond to global developments in the
American diploma and IB program;

o To plan and coordinate department based professional development
opportunities linked to individual professional development plans and job
competencies (i.e., encourages professional development of department
staff members);

o To provide comprehensive/balanced training in and across given subject
areas and curricular areas;
Academic or Trade Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in
education, English, mathematics, science, psychology, or other academic
discipline.
Work Experience and Skills:
o IB knowledge and teaching is a plus.

o Have a mature, responsible, flexible and positive disposition.
o Be open minded and willing to further their knowledge and development by
attending training courses, sharing information gained with colleagues, and
maintaining updated knowledge of best practice by reading, researching and
attending relevant training.
 o Exemplify high standards in practice at all times.

o Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar field.
