Factory Head
Direct Reporting: Director Operations (and/or) Managing Director
Location: Howrah
Department: Operations
JOB DESCRIPTION:Health Safety & Environment
? Ensuring that health and safety policy and guidelines are followed and that Safety targets
are set up annually, measured, and improved continuously, thus creating a safe environment where employees can work safely in all areas.
? To Ensure - No EHS ( Environment , Health, and Safety) critical incident, No Lost Time Injury
(LTI).
? Responsible for the Safety of Employees & Assets of the organization.
? Ensure to meet Safety Health and Environment norms. Ensuring an accident-free workplace.
Compliance with Pollution related matters.
? Maintain a clean and safe plant with regards to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and
Health and Safety requirements.
Human Resource
? People Management and Development; manage the performance of production teams and
develop them through regular reviews and appropriate training.
? Through appropriate management style, foster a culture of engagement, commitment and
continuous improvement within the plant, coaching and developing a leadership style
amongst the workforce that will support this culture.
? To ensure maximum Employee Engagement across the employees.
? Develop skill level of the plant employees and supporting them to achieve their targets. To
maintain a cohesive & harmonious relationship in the plant team.
? Leading, mentoring & monitoring the performance of team members to ensure
efficiency in process operations and meeting of production targets.
Audit &Statutory Compliance
? Liaison with local Govt. / Statutory bodies (i.e Pollution Control Board,
Fire, Factory Inspector, PF & Labor dept., etc.) and ensure that the plant is complying with all
statutory norms as applicable.
? Ensure all plant is complying with all Audit requirements (I.e. internal and External)
Production and Operation? Overall responsible for Product Availability as per the customer demand and meeting the
Budgeted volume.
? Lead the production Planning - Define, propose and implement the production plan for the
Plant, according to the needs of the customer.
? To improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing product variation.
? Develop and lead continuous improvement activities within the team.
? To ensure that safety and quality are key elements of the manufacturing culture.
? Build and develop relationships at all levels across the manufacturing function to spark ideas for continuous improvement.
? Implement KAIZEN and 5S, Hazard Analysis Critical Control point (HACCP), and Total quality
management (TQM )at the plant.
? Responsible for the product quality of the plant.
? Employee engagement and employee motivation in the shop floor.
? To improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing variation by LEAN
deployment, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) culture thereby reducing cost on Cost of
Poor Quality (COPQ).
? Communicating with all the relevant people/departments and coordinating for all relevant
inputs (people, plant and processes) to ensure production output and on-time delivery
targets are achieved.
? Ensuring that goods are manufactured as per the production plan, quality standards, and
targeted schedule, to achieve delivery targets and annual budget as agreed. Manage
customer order /schedule requirements.
? Responsible for Key Performance Indicators for the plant.
Quality
? Responsible for Delivering Quality products as per the parameter.
? To Ensure Quality - No recall or product hold, GMP compliance.
? Build a Quality culture across the plant.
? Ensure rejected product/nonconformance is rectified on a high priority and customers are
kept informed accordingly.
? Coordination with R&D on technology transfer/R&D scale up batches.
? Following the guidelines and coordination with QA and QC to establish effective quality
control/assurance systems at factory to ensure of consistent of quality product delivery
? Ensure Product deviation and quality complaints are minimal.
? Ensure timely closing of the market complaints and ensure Corrective and Preventive
Action (CAPA). Sharing of the closer report with Quality and Marketing Team.
? Formulating standard operating procedures for new processes/equipment for
ensuring smooth operations such as QC/SCM/EHS/maintenance etc.
Maintenance
? Overseeing the preventative Maintenance Management - To define together with the
maintenance the preventive plan.
? Ensure that breakdown is minimum to avoid production loss.
? Planning and upgrading the existing equipment to be in line with modern industry practice.
Supply Chain Management
? To Maintain and follow the inventory norms for RM/PM, Engineering & Finished goods.
? Managing the plant to give optimum output with the help of timely maintenance of
equipment.
? Monitoring external factors affecting the supply chain to analyze material adequacy and plans of
procurements.
Financial
? Budget - Prepare and manage the budget in line with the company's / financial policies and
procedures.
? Profitability Management - Analyze performance continuously, permanently controlling all
the production costs identifying the deviations causes and proposing corrective measures.
? Support executive management in the formation of the plant business strategy and play a
key role in delivering against the strategy.
? Responsible for overall plant cost & Profitability.
? Budgeting and Cost Control - To spend within the budget, to reduce cost on Cost of Poor
Quality.
? Preparation of the site capex budget and its monitoring and control.
Projects
? To handle new Projects in the plant.
? Technical up-gradation and validation process – Cap-Ex and automation monitoring.
? Identification of redundant equipment, and non-performing fixed assets and take further
necessary action.
? Responsible for implementing systems & processes.
Skills
? Experience in Production, Maintenance, Projects, Environment, Occupational Health
& Safety, and Food Safety & Quality Management Systems.
? Operation and Maintenance of plant Utilities.
? Experience as Sustainability Champion.
? A keen planner and implementer with expertise in devising strategies aimed to
enhance overall organizational growth and sustained profitability; demonstrated
excellence in managing & handling administrative, operational and business activities
focusing on the financial and strategic growth of organization
? Expert in defining company direction, achieving goals and optimizing business, with
expertise in developing procedures, service standards and operational policies,
planning & implementing effective control measures to reduce running costs of the
unit
? Must have 15 + Years of Experience
? Must have minimum relevant experience as a factory manager or Head as 4 Years
Salary - Up to 27 Lac CTC per annum
